The Bahamas can look deceptively simple from a distance: turquoise water, white sand, sunshine.

But every island has its own rhythm, character, level of access, culture and way of life. What works beautifully for one traveler may be completely wrong for another.

Bahamas Inspired was created to make those differences easier to understand — and to celebrate the people, traditions, places and everyday details that make The Bahamas far richer than a postcard.

Meet Valerie Ward

I was born and raised in The Bahamas, and although life has taken me around the world, the islands have always remained part of how I see beauty, hospitality, culture and home.

I have experienced many of the islands of The Bahamas from different perspectives — as a local, traveler, property owner and boater.

Over time, those experiences, together with the I ❤️ The Bahamas Facebook community I built, grew into something larger.

Bahamas Inspired grew from that perspective — a cultural and lifestyle house shaped by my love for the country, my personal standards and a distinctly Bahamian point of view.

Through it, I want to help people experience The Bahamas with more understanding, intention and ease — while also celebrating the culture, people, food, music, design, boating, hospitality and everyday island life that make the country what it is.

A community behind the work

Bahamas Inspired is informed by one of the largest Bahamas communities online, with more than 130,000 members connected through I ❤️ The Bahamas.

That community brings together Bahamians, residents, travelers, boaters, property owners, future residents and people around the world who love the islands. Years of questions, recommendations, stories and lived experiences help shape the perspective behind the work.
